When I was Standard 3/4, I saw STPM represent Melaka in a BrassBand Competition...I saw it at the TV (all my older sisters r from the same schools as me..) And I love it so much! I decided to join it when I'm old enough.. So, I heard that the school is a good school, so u have to get many A's in order to join.... so, I studied from day to night..evry night I got tution..and I got straight A's(yeah, my dad gave me N-GAGE as a reward) Then, I join STPM...and the band...but, the band was in terrible state..the seniors left the juniors to play alone...and they went talking... I was not discouraged by it...I practiced alone..till I can play Kain Pelikat(all by myself...and at that time, my sight reading was really bad). The next month, I was forced by the seniors to play Bell Lyre cause 'I KNOW THE POSITION OF THE KEY' At the end of the year, I got forced by seniors 2 go 2 a training or sumthing(as a flutist)... and I was still zero in Flute...before I went to the 10days training, I surf the net to get the Flute fingering chart. I was the only one from STPM who got into Pop Orchestra..the other seniors went to other orch. as ordered. I was soo scared cuz I dunnoe how to play and other stuffs.... Then, I got the manuscript. I was like,"omg! wht the hell?!!! I dunnoe!!!" I can read...but I cant play!!! Ive been terrible that day.. I told the conductor bout the situation and he asked me to stay and play what I can.... I don't wanna be a screensaver!!! So, practiced myself at night... From then, my time table was like..7 till 12 am, 3 till 5 am and 7 till 12 pm orchestra training... By the time I got into the hotel.. my seniors and a friend(Ama clarinet..yeah..she transferred to other skewl last year) slept already...and I practice flute till 3 am...cuz I really want to play the songs with other musicians in my group and I dont wanna embarass myself by screensaver-ing at the stageby Day-10... On the performance day, at Taman Budaya...I played the whole songs... I really proud of myself...and I want to share the feelings with evrybody form the band.... So, the point of telling ya the story is, I want you all to know that...we can still practice by ourself...if ure my band sister...I hope you inspired by the story...and Im not telling you that Im good at music(not just yet) Im still learning...JUST LIKE YOU ALL... |
